Tea is the second oldest, second most consumed,  second favorite beverage in the world only to water. And that really has nothing to do with its benefits - that's just an added bonus. Unlike coffee which was discovered only in the 11th century.

Tea has been around for almost 5,000 years, after it was first discovered in ancient China. Though it was accidentally discovered, it was no accident that it traveled all the way to the four corners of the planet.  The reason it traveled so well was because of its delicious taste and surprising health benefits.

Although, varieties of "real" tea come from the same leaf called camelia sinesis, they are all processed differently, which gives the teas a different look, taste and benefit.

However, there are also herbal teas (tisanes) that have been around just as long. Herbal teas can be plants, spices, flowers leaves, roots, seeds, beans and herbs that are boiled or heated in a pot of water or infused into water to make tea. Beautifully, tisanes have many more flavors, colors, looks and health benefits, with no caffeine and  minimal to no side effects.
